Client Account Executive, Lauren Lieser talks us through a day on the road as she visits clients across East Anglia.
I’ve woken up this morning after a fabulous evening spent in the grounds of The Chapel, St Marks College in Saffron Walden. It’s a little creepy with its creaky doors and somewhat Harry Potter-esque style but very quaint. Today is going to be a busy one as I am hosting an event here for conveyancing lawyers so I have a quick cup of ambition (okay, three cups!) a bite to eat and I’m ready for the day!
I head down to the room to prep for the event and start to practise, practise, practise the presentation. The purpose of our event today is to keep our clients in the loop around recent changes to Anti Money Laundering (AML) regulations, provide updates on environmental reports, give an insight into the DevAssess planning products that we provide and, of course, demonstrate how Geodesys can help streamline our clients’ conveyancing processes.
The doors open and our guests start to arrive. I love our conveyancing events as they are a great opportunity to see our long-standing clients in a more relaxed environment, meet potential new ones and give our guests an opportunity to put faces to voices.
Coffee, pastries and goody bag in hand, our guests from across East Anglia sit down to receive our conveyancing presentations. The subjects seem to be well-chosen as feedback suggests not everyone was aware of certain aspects of the reports we offer, services we carry out and changes in regulations that have recently come into play.
Break time. Conveyancing is such a complex sector and it’s great to get feedback from our attendees about our presentations, luckily it’s positive and been perceived as beneficial. I sit down with one of my clients to discuss their objectives over the next few months. This includes putting together a competitor analysis of their target area to assist with their marketing.
The event comes to a close and it appears to have been a roaring success. I’m hopeful that a few doors have been opened for me to introduce our offering to a few solicitor firms. Part of my role, and one aspect that I love the most, is building new partnerships.
While the day is still fresh in my head, and there is a real buzz amongst the team, we sit round the table to review this morning’s event and discuss ways we can improve our next seminar. Lots of ideas are being shared.
No rest for the wicked as I zoom off down the M11 to a client meeting as they have expressed an interest in implementing the Groundsure Avista report that we offer. It’s proving to be a popular choice for our clients at the moment because it not only saves money but it goes a long way in helping cover their liability as a firm and provides important environmental and planning information. Being based in Huntingdon, our local knowledge is second to none which is always helpful when advising our clients about specific conveyancing risks in the region.
Another aspect of my job that I enjoy is being able to assist solicitors on correct product choices as it can be a minefield out there with so many conveyancing searches to choose from!
It’s time for my last meeting of the day with a local business around AML and the UK standard in client due diligence. As I run through our solution for personalised AML options, I feel like I’m a bit of a tech whiz! Anti-Money Laundering is such a hot topic right now and understanding how a business operates and how Geodesys can best assist is key for maintaining long standing relationships. I am very proud of the rapport I have built with my clients over the last five years and love being involved and watching them grow.
Finally I’m on my way home so it’s time to switch off (well, pop the phone on silent anyway) and create some Jackson Pollock inspired art for my good friend’s shop. Home is where the art is!
Time to play chef and create (in my mind) an award winning meal! David Attenborough is playing in the background, educating me on this little planet we call home.
Finally, lights out and time for some much needed shut eye. Good night.
