Celebrating 15 Years of Commercial Drainage and Water Data

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the commercial drainage and water data used in the CON29DW Commercial. Since the launch of the Commercial Drainage and Water Enquiry in 2010, the product has evolved significantly to reflect the changes across the water industry and the conveyancing world.
In 2021, the current version of the CON29DW Commercial was launched in partnership with The Drainage and Water Searches Network (DWSN) and The Law Society. Today, it remains the market-leading product for those purchasing or leasing land or commercial property.
The CON29DW Commercial is specifically designed for commercial transactions and comprises 27 standard questions. It provides comprehensive information on water and sewerage services, infrastructure assets and confirms that a property is connected to the mains supply and drainage. Where possible, it also includes key information regarding trade effluent consent licenses, and wayleaves and easements. For commercial property professionals, this report is key to mitigating risk and supporting their own due diligence.
The role of the data used in the report has grown beyond simply providing drainage and water data. It has become an essential foundation for informed decisions about property transactions. At Geodesys, we believe the real value lies in interpretation. It’s no longer just about asking, “What’s in the report?” but “What does this mean for my client?” and “How could this affect the transaction six months or six years down the line?”
With nearly 30 years in the industry, Geodesys has seen the consequences of incomplete insight: disputes, delays, and costly renegotiations. We’ve also seen how the right information, presented clearly and acted upon early, can transform outcomes. That’s why our reports are more than data dumps; they’re interpreted, quality-assured, and designed to give you confidence in every recommendation you make.
As proud members of the DWSN, we are held to rigorous standards and codes of practice. This includes minimum levels of professional indemnity cover, robust complaints procedures, adherence to regulation, and exemplary customer service. These standards ensure we consistently provide accurate, user-friendly, and fast-turnaround reports.
The original CON29DW Residential search launched in 2002, set a new benchmark for drainage and water reporting. The arrival of the commercial counterpart in 2010 was a welcome development for solicitors and conveyancers, bringing the same level of clarity and reassurance to the commercial property market. Now under the stewardship of the DWSN, formed in 2014 to uphold and evolve these standards, CON29DW searches continue to lead the industry. For Geodesys, being part of the DWSN ensures that we not only meet expectations but consistently raise them.
