Important updates to UK Personal Assessments

To keep your transaction moving and to ensure you receive an accurate personal AML result, we have put together a deeper dive into the new reporting and electronic validation approach implemented by TransUnion.
Change in Reporting
There's a small change in how the results of Personal Assessments will be reported. This change won't affect the overall Assessment result but will present data differently. This change is expected to impact a very small fraction of cases (less than 0.25% of all current cases), specifically those that are borderline passes with minimal data available from TransUnion®.
Backed by Statistical Testing
Before implementing the change, statistical tests were conducted on historical cases. It was determined that this change would primarily affect cases with limited data and borderline passing scores.
Electronic Validation standards
To ensure accurate AML (Anti-Money Laundering) checks, TransUnion® requires a minimum of 2 primary electronic matches. These matches can come from sources like the electoral roll, financial SHARE records, CCJ data, and bankruptcy records.
Accepted Electronic Documents
Only specific types of documentation are considered "Primary" for electronic validation. These are:
- Passport (with full MRZ)
- Photo Driving Licence (not paper licence)
Other Primary Documents
Other primary documents include:
- EU State ID Card
- Firearms Certificate
- ID Card issued by the Electoral Roll Office of Northern Ireland
- National ID Card (for non-UK residents)
- Passport (with only passport number provided)
Secondary Documents
All other document types are considered "Secondary" and can contribute to higher risk profiles, but not as part of the core electronic ML (Money Laundering) check.
Adjustment in Referral Results
If any other primary document types are provided and the TransUnion® check has at least 1 electronic match (but not 2), the "referred" result will be adjusted and overridden with an explanation. This adjustment aims to prevent an excessive referral increase when only the two specific document types are assessed.
Three Types of Documents
The document types are now categorised into three groups:
- Passport with MRZ and Photo Driving Licence (directly increase primary matches)
- Other primary photo IDs (Firearms, EU/National ID card, passports without MRZ) that can supplement electronic matches
- All other documents, are accepted for risk profile totals but not as primary IDs.
