A collaboration that has transformed how CON29DW drainage and water searches are delivered to conveyancers, property professionals, and search providers across the UK.
In what has been a successful start to a hopefully longstanding collaboration. Let’s look back on the last 12 months and celebrate what got us to this point.
What is a CON29DW and why does it matter?
A CON29DW drainage and water search is a critical part of the conveyancing process, providing essential information about:

Delivering a modern CON29DW solution for Southern Water
Southern Water approached us early last year, pulling on over 30 years of Geodesys experience with a particular focus on our market-leading CON29DW Drainage and Water report.
The main goal was to create a user-friendly platform with an intuitive mapping tool, unify the CON29DW products, easy-to-use ordering platform and offer a full suite of searches. Benefits that run alongside our goals included free quotation and mapping, a dedicated experienced customer support team and no admin fees. All delivered to Southern Water to enhance their service and offer technical expertise when needed.
From initial proposals to the final product there was a very short lag time. Within just three months, Geodesys successfully:
- Modernised CON29DW reports for improved usability
- Developed and enhanced a powerful API integration for search providers
- Delivered a personally tailored ordering portal
- Maintained service continuity for existing partners
- Offered bespoke account management
This challenge required us to utilise our full skillset within the team and adapt to new timelines depending on company needs.
Results after one year

“We have managed to grow the presence of the CON29DW to direct customers in Southern Water’s area like never before, including attending physical events located in the area and delivering a programme of Webinars, and facilitating modern e-commerce website ordering, alongside the personal touch of named Account Managers.

A key milestone in the partnership was the launch of the Southern Water Portal, designed to support evolving industry needs. Robert Behrens, our product owner, reflects on the progress made on this bespoke system used for ordering our searches:
“Our goal was to deliver a portal solution from day 1 of launch, which was achieved. We have continued to enhance the portal that better supports working practices for both the customer and Geodesys. The project, and subsequent learnings, has meant we have continued to build a solution which, in turn, may help Geodesys on its way to replace some of our legacy services and products.
The project was a great example of collaboration across a multitude of teams and departments including, UI/UX, Testing, Product, Project Delivery, App Support, Customer Services and Development. The focus and drive to get this project over the line was fantastic across all teams!”
As a result of this project, our CON29DWs now deliver an innovative aligned and united design for Southern Water, Northumbrian Water and Anglian Water. For Southern Water in particular, the impact has been substantial. Turnaround times have improved significantly, saving on average two days per report. Making them easy to process for conveyancers and simple to understand for property buyers.
