Earlier this year, Geodesys became the official ordering and delivery partner for CON29DW searches across the Southern Water region. This strategic partnership was designed not only to strengthen Geodesys’ position in the market, but also to deliver an enhanced level of service and technical expertise to conveyancers throughout the Southern Water region. Now, just over six months into the partnership, it feels like a good time to pause and reflect on the progress made so far. We spoke with Jonny Davey, Geodesys’ Business Development Manager, to gain his insight into the impact, benefits, and early successes of the collaboration.

What inspired the partnership between Geodesys and Southern Water?

Southern Water were looking for an experienced partner who could take their offering to clients to the next level. The offering from SW had been functional and friendly but lacked any real dynamism in terms of promoting the core products and defending its market share.

What were the main goals of the partnership?

The main goals included:

  • Freshening up the CON29DW products to a more modern look and feel,
  • Offering a full suite of conveyancing searches,
  • An easy-to-use online ordering platform
  • Enabling resellers to order via a dedicated XML solution.

Other benefits also include free quotation tool, free mapping and no admin fees, as well as a dedicated, experienced Customer Service team to help deal with all queries and improve the prevailing Turnaround Times of the products.

What were the biggest challenges in launching this partnership, and how were they overcome?

There was a short lead time to deliver the new solution and platform. We had to create new internal applications to deal with detailed handling of orders – meanwhile, our day-to-day levels of orders from the existing Anglian Water side of the business didn't go away!

What innovations or improvements were introduced as part of this collaboration?

As mentioned above, a dedicated SW Order Portal was created for internal use both by Geodesys and the remaining “production” team at Southern Water. This solution linked our existing systems with the new external systems required to deliver great service. In addition, we were able to transfer the CON29DW products from SW across into a new, modern, interactive product, tailored to SW’s exact needs.

How does this partnership align with Geodesys’ broader strategic goals?

We have always been much more than just another search company responsible for delivering CON29DW searches in the Anglian Water area, and this partnership clearly demonstrates our broader strategic capabilities and ambitions. Many of the service standards we take for granted - such as fast turnaround times, innovative product offerings, and strong existing partnerships with industry-leading organisations like Landmark and Groundsure, have now become the norm for a much wider section of the UK property market that previously had limited choice. Building on this success, we intend to continue pursuing strategic partnerships where we believe we can deliver genuine benefits for all parties involved.

How does this partnership reflect Geodesys’ commitment to innovation and customer service?

Our dedicated customer service team have taken on the additional responsibility brilliantly. In conjunction with that day-to-day work at the customer facing side of things. Behind the scenes our own developers have pushed the limits of what the technology can do, now and into the future and have really carried our desire to innovate to a whole new audience. This partnership paves the way for further work with interested parties that will not only present challenges but will satisfy our desire to innovate!

What does this success mean for Geodesys moving forward?

Our partnership with Southern Water begins to realise a long-standing ambition for Geodesys to branch out into new and diverse areas. Technology is one important strand of this growth, but at the heart of everything we do are talented people with the experience, knowledge, and ambition to drive us forward. We are now looking ahead to the next opportunity to showcase our expertise in the areas of the conveyancing world that we know so well.
